Redirecting learning, guiding futures.
As the Founder and Academy Director of Kompass Academy, I have dedicated over eight years to providing exceptional virtual tutoring services tailored to support neurodivergent students, including those with ADHD and autism. With a bachelors in Health Sciences and minor in Early Learning, my mission is to create a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student can thrive academically and personally.
With a strong focus on personalized learning, I collaborate closely with students and families to develop customized plans that cater to individual needs and learning styles. Drawing from my own experiences with ADHD, I bring a deep sense of empathy and understanding to my teaching, fostering an engaging and effective approach for all learners.
Whether you're looking to boost academic performance, build confidence, or prepare for the future, I'm here with the perfect team to guide your child every step of the way.
Our Tutors
Tran
I've been tutoring for over eight years, and a big part of what drives that work is personal — I have ADHD myself, so I genuinely understand what it feels like to sit in a classroom and have things not click the way they're supposed to. That experience shapes how I show up for every student I work with, especially those who are neurodivergent or have been told they just need to "try harder."
My background is in Health Sciences with a minor in Early Learning from SFU, and I'm trained in DIR Model techniques and positive reinforcement strategies. My sessions tend to focus on IB English, sciences, and classical piano — and a lot of the work goes beyond the content itself, helping students figure out how they actually learn and building systems that make things feel more manageable.
Sandhu
I am currently studying Biological Sciences at university! I have a passion for the sciences and my main focus is IB English, Biology and Chemistry.
As an IB DP alumni myself, I understand how IB can be very stressful and overwhelming so I aim to create a supportive, safe environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing skills.
Nguyen
Hi there! I'm Hillary and I've always been very passionate in the studies of understanding human behaviour and supporting others. With a major in Psychology and a minor in Education, I'm on the path to becoming a licensed therapist. More than anything, I believe that everyone deserves a safe, understanding, and nurturing space to grow and that's something I bring into my tutoring as well.
I strive to make learning a supportive and engaging experience, meeting each student where they are and helping them build confidence in their abilities. My goal is to not only help with academics but also to create a space where students feel encouraged and empowered to succeed!

How It Works

Start Sessions
Meet virtually via Google Workspace or in person at our Surrey or Burnaby offices, on a schedule that works for you.
Teacher
Our core teaching method flips the usual review session: instead of passively going over notes, students explain the concept back to their tutor, without notes. It's a small shift that builds real, lasting mastery instead of last-minute memorization.
